Foreign minister, João Miranda and Jendayi Frazer discuss strengthening of economic cooperation
May, 31, 2007 – The reinforcement of economic cooperation and United States of America’s support to the ongoing Angolan electoral process were discussed during an audience, the Angolan Foreign Affairs minister, João Miranda, granted in Luanda to visiting US Assistant Secretary for African Affairs, Jendayi Frazer.
For about an hour, the US official, in Luanda since Thursday morning, assessed with João Miranda the state of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
In the international sphere, the two parties analyzed Angola’s engagement in the training of the army of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and exchanged views about the crises prevailing in Somalia, Sudan and Zimbabwe. The US diplomat’s mission in Angola includes the signing of an accord in the field of energy.
The accord that involves USD 626,000, aims at financing the rehabilitation of the power distribution network and construction of small dams in the provinces of Kuando-Kubango and Moxico, southeast and east, respectively.
According to Jendayi Frazer’s visiting programme, the diplomat traveled to central Huambo province, under a programme designed by local government.
The US diplomat ended her visit to Angola on Sunday, June 3,2007.
