National Assembly meets over new Legislative Year

Luanda – The National Assembly met in Luanda to analyse the Parliament’s Permanent Commission Report and prepare the programme for the opening session of the legislative year of the 2008/2012 period. The Angolan MPs voted the report.

The Angolan Constitution in force in the country since 2010 states that the Head of State addresses the opening of the legislative year through a communication to the nation.

This procedure was inaugurated in October 2010 by theHhead of the Executive, José Eduardo dos Santos, when for the first time in the history of the country he addressed an opening session with a speech to the nation focusing mainly on national political, socio-economic, defense and security aspects.
