Cabinet approves amending electricity law

Luanda - The Cabinet Council approved Friday a draft Amending Law on Electricity to ensure recasting of the provisions relating to the powers of all those directly concerned public entities involved in production, transport, distribution and supply process of electricity.

This is contained in a media note released at the end of its 2nd session, chaired by the Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos. The draft Law also comprises the principles for the establishment of tariffs and the supply of this essential good for the people and development of the country.

This also include standardisation of this statute to the other legal instruments in force.

The Cabinet also approved the grant to the State-run Oil company "SONANGOL E.P." the right for prospecting, explorating, developing and producing the oil and gas in hydrocarbon reserves in the concession area of ??the Centre Block of Land Zone in the northern Cabinda province. Under the specific rules of the Associations Act, the Cabinet Council also approved the Regulation of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).

The session also analysed a Presidential Decree establishing the Promotion and Communities Aid Coordination Institute (IPROCAC) and approved its Organic Statute.

The participants also analysed the Presidential Decrees approving the Organic Statutes of the General Labour Inspection, the National Institute of Judicial Studies (INEJ) and Tourist Development Institute of Angola (Infotur).

Finally, the Council approved the appointment of the Board of Directors of the Angolan Institute of Communications (INACOM), as follows: António Pedro Benge, CEO; Leonel Inácio Augusto, Executive Manager; Luisa de Freitas Bernardo Augusto, Executive Mmanager; Zolana Rui João, Non-Executive Manager; Manuel Tomás Miguel Neto, Non-Executive Manager; Alvaro Damiao André dos Santos, Non-Executive Manager, and António Moniz Gonçalves, Non-Executive Manager.
